THIS newspaper has said for years that GNER is one of the best train operators around at looking after its passengers.
The latest survey proves that.
Customer satisfaction with the company has fallen. But it still remains head and shoulders above most competitors.
All the more sad, then, that GNER had to give up its East Coast franchise.
We won't know until next month who is shortlisted to take over.
But whoever wins the franchise, we hope they keep their headquarters here in York. And we hope they take on the staff who have done such a good job, looking after passengers for GNER.
