A MICRO-BREWERY has produced a special brew in honour of the Great War centenary and help raise money for the local Royal British Legion.
Aldbrough St John micro-brewery, Mithril Ales, has produced the light ale, Poppy Pale and 10p from every pint sold in the run-up to Remembrance Day has been donated to the village’s branch of the Royal British Legion.
A cheque for £75 was presented to legion officers at the Remembrance Sunday service at Melsonby.
Brewer Peter Fenwick from a well-known farming family in the Aldbrough area and a distant relative, Ralph William Fenwick, is recorded as having lost his life in the Great War on the memorial in Stanwick St John church.
The limited edition brew will be on sale for a short time at local pubs such as the Stanwick in Aldbrough St John, the White Swan in Gilling West, and the Bishop Blaize in Richmond as well as several in Darlington and Teesdale.
