REGARDING the Press article about the latest Barbican planning application (Glass war, January 26), may I refer readers, the council and the various Barbican developers to the recent ruling by the Law Lords in the case of Barker v Bromley Council.
This ruling impacts seriously on environmental impact assessment, which is a very important law our Lib-Dem council seems to have an aversion to. Save Our Barbican is consulting lawyers regarding the significant effect this may have on the Barbican development.
This ruling, by the highest court in the land, made after the Law Lords consulted the European Court, now means that it could be wildly inaccurate to say there are now no further barriers to the development.
If further planning applications are granted, it could mean significant risk to the various development partners.
