Students from York College helped to give their job prospects a boost by organising a careers exhibition.
The event attracted a wide range of employers, including hotel chains, travel agencies and careers organisations. The students staged the exhibition as part of their National Diploma in hospitality, travel and tourism, while it also gave them an insight into event management and helped them make decisions about their own career paths.
Sue Bruce, a travel and tourism tutor at York College, praised the students for their efforts.
She said: "The students organised the entire event themselves and they have done an excellent job. This has been an especially valuable experience for those students who wish to go on to study event management."
Roxanne Williams, a travel and tourism student who would like to work in event management within the hotel industry, said: "This event has given me an insight into the world of conference organising and the many levels of communication work that is needed. The event has gone really well and I would like to thank everyone involved including visitors and college staff."
