A BBC botanist was given a guided tour of a renowned hotel's gardens hours after delivering a lecture to fans and students.
Television presenter James Wong, a regular reporter on Countryfile, delivered a lecture to around 100 guests at Askham Bryan College on Wednesday evening on his passion for horticulture.
James, who stayed at Middlethorpe Hall, was given a guided tour of the 17th-century home's gardens the following tour by head gardener David Barker.
He said: "We showed him around the gardens after breakfast and he was interested in all aspects of it as a botanist and horticulturalist.
"It was very scientific and I learned quite a lot from that and the lecture.
"The lecture was organised by The Chartered Institute of Horticulture and he is going around a lot of colleges in the country talking about getting into the industry."
