I FELT I had to write after visiting the new market in York. It was half-empty and looked quite sad.
The stallholders said they were trying to get used to it, but everything was bland and, I have to be honest, very boring. It is such a shame as the market in Parliament Street was lovely and bustling.
Why couldn’t the new market be brightened up and used for visiting fairs? It could have permanent pretty lights and brightly coloured canopies and trees. I was very disappointed as the new market cost a lot. The council should rethink this policy.
