I WAS uplifted to hear that Ted Griffiths died at the age of 95, the day after attending the Barbican Remembrance service.
He and his family could not have wished for a better ending where he retained his physical mobility and mental capacity right up to the end.
Contrast this with other old soldiers who end up in nursing care and find that the country they fought to save demands they must sell their family home to pay the fees.
Thankfully, this ignominy was not imposed on Mr Poppy.
