FILM-MAKER Robert Hackett is celebrating double delight from his Aesthetica Short Film Festival visit to York.
First his wife Rachel gave birth to daughter Agatha three weeks early last Saturday afternoon at York Hospital.
Next he capped the perfect weekend by winning the prize for best music video for his Nightmail film for Public Service Broadcasting at Sunday night’s awards ceremony at the De Grey Rooms.
“This has been the most significant event in my life,” he said, when announcing his baby’s arrival to the packed ballroom, while clutching his award. “So this second prize of the weekend goes to Rachel and our gorgeous daughter.”
Sunday’s master of ceremonies, York gallery director Greg McGee, urged the couple to call their new arrival Aesthetica as a memory of the festival. “Aesthetica Hackett.
It’s a gorgeous name. You should do it!” he said.
Instead, the new parents have chosen Agatha Auden Hackett, who was born at 4.23pm, weighing 5lb 11oz. Robert is counting his blessings that Rachel had travelled north with him.
“If she had stayed in London, I wouldn’t have been able to get back in time for the birth,” he said.
Mother, father and baby left York on Tuesday after the Hacketts’ dramatic cinematic trip to York.
“The win at the Aesthetica Short Film Festival was very special in itself, but the fact Agatha chose to be born in York made it a momentous weekend we will never forget,”
said Robert.
