NEW legislation is on the horizon for 2015 making it illegal to smoke in one’s own car if children are on board.
Do we really need this heavy-handed approach, especially as there is likely to be a monetary fine involved?
Surely this is down to parents to act properly where children are involved.
The whole smoking issue has, in this country, been blown out of all proportion.
Network Rail put a blanket ban on smoking within the confines of railway stations.
At many of our rural stations this is something of a travesty: a couple of bus shelters and acres of open platforms.
No smoking allowed but it is fine to breath in diesel exhaust fumes.
The Swiss have taken a different approach by earmarking smoking areas, giving people the option of smoking if they so wish.
How long, I wonder before the do-gooders seek legislation to ban smoking in one’s own castle?
