A MUCH-LOVED priest who served in both the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church has died aged 67 after a long illness.
Father Norman Jacobson worked at St Aelred’s, Tang Hall, for three years – his first post after he converted to Catholicism in 1986.
Born in County Durham in February 1947, he was first ordained into the Church of England and worked throughout Teesside until his conversion. His coffin will tonight be received into St Anthony’s and Our Lady of Mercy Church, Hull, where he was parish priest until his death.
Monsignor Gerard Robinson, Vicar General for the Catholic Diocese of Middlesbrough, said: “In expressing our prayerful sympathy to Norman’s sister, his relatives and many friends, we recognise with gratitude the generous pastoral care he has shown to those entrusted to him over these last 28 years.”
