A YORK building society has donated money to support a number of local charities.
Hugh Bayley, MP for York Central, visited Yorkshire Building Society in Feasegate to collect £100 which had been donated by the branch as part of the society’s 150th anniversary celebrations.
The funds will go towards The Smiley Riley Fund, The Alzheimer’s Society, The Salvation Army, York Carers Centre and The York Minster Fund.
Mr Bayley said: “I congratulate the Yorkshire Building Society on their 150th anniversary. The Society is doing some great work in the community and it is good that its customers choose the good causes which it supports.”
Dean Alsop, branch manager, said: “I’m delighted that five worthwhile causes in our area are part of the hundreds of local charities the Society is supporting throughout the UK and I’m sure the money will be used to make a difference.”
