I SPENT much of the weekend adorned with binoculars searching the fields and woodlands around York for alien spaceships.
Following recent council disasters and the lack of individual responsibility, I can only conclude that aliens from outer space are causing the mayhem we are seeing in the city council.
I have written to Dr Who for his help in tracking down and sending such aliens back to from whence they came, but I fear he is out of the range of Royal Mail.
He is probably spinning around in his Tardis working out where to land next. Could he return to the immediate past in York and repair the untold reputational damage done? I doubt it as I think the task would be too great.
Tragically, the reputation of our great city is at an all-time low and will take a lot of hard work over the next few years for it to recover. Only a Conservative council will have the guts to tackle the issues that have to be resolved in restoring that reputation.
Cllr John C Galvin, Bishopthorpe ward, Bridge Road, Bishopthorpe, York.
