YORK'S Ladies held their nerve again in indoor bowls' Vivienne Trophy to go from 38-37 down at the half-way stage to beat Leicester 87-63 and reach the quarter-finals.
York's away rinks did well with Pat Bracken's rink not being overawed by a 7-1 deficit after only four ends.
By the ninth, the scores were level at 9-9 and, with two ends to finish, Bracken secured a good 19-17 win despite losing four of the last five ends.
At home, Ella Amitt's team only lost six ends and won 25-7. Anita Haw's four had a difficult first half, trailing 17-2 after 11 ends, but they turned it round, helped by a seven on the 19th, to lose by only 23-19.
York will play Cambridge Chesterton in the last eight next Thursday at Melton Mowbray IBC New Earswick's Ladies didn't let York get into their North East League game as they beat them 85-65.
At home, Diane Hardy's team scored a six on the seventh end to lead Margaret Smith's side 9-5 and didn't lose the lead again, winning 23-11.
Kath Sykes' rink had the game won by the 15th end as they led 21-6 before Kath Pepper's four made a brief comeback winning four successive ends. The home side had the last laugh winning the last two to take the game 23-13.
At Thanet Road, Peg Walker's rink finished in style against Bracken's team, scoring 14 shots without reply over the last five ends to go from 14-12 to a 28-12 victory.
York's only consolation came from Barbara Dawson's team, who lost only five ends to Margaret Moss's team, comfortably winning 29-11.
