I CANNOT understand how Louise Jones failed to give any mention whatsoever to the leading player Steve Tearle in the role of Mack in the New Earswick Musical Society’s production of Mack and Mabel at Rowntree Theatre (The Press, November 15).
I attended the matinee on Saturday and delighted in a magnetic personality with great stage presence playing the main role of Mack.
Not a likeable character but true to the the perception of Mack Sennett and beautifully portrayed. I comprehend damning with faint praise, but this omission seemed mean.
It was an excellent production and other worthies did get a mention, especially Julie Hannah as Mabel, a perfect fragile foil to macho Mack.
