INQUISITIVE school children have learnt important lessons from years gone by after visiting the elderly.
Year 5 pupils at St Aelred's RC Primary School spoke with residents at Woolnough House to break down barriers with a generation born some 60 years before them.
The Tang Hall children take part in regular sessions and have travelled to the home for the last three weeks to talk to pensioners and discuss their project on the North and South Poles.
Deebie Feehan, deputy headteacher, said: "The idea is to break down barriers between old and young so the children become more confident, speak to the elderly and have more respect for people of that age because the age gap is so different.
"We love taking them and the residents look forward to children coming as well.
"One resident told me it was the best two weeks of his life when we finished the project."
