YOUNGSTERS at Clifton with Rawcliffe Primary School in York joined in with the national Road Safety Week campaign urging road users to look out for each other and save lives.
The school ran a Beep Beep! Day to teach young children important road safety messages with local police visiting to help deliver key lessons. The school ran a road safety t-shirt competition with the winning design being made into a t-shirt for the winner.
First Group South Yorkshire were also at the school to support the event, bringing a bus to help talk through the dangers of limited visibility around buses.
Teacher Rachael Christon, said: “Some of the things we looked at to promote road safety in school included wearing seatbelts in cars, always wear a helmet when cycling, wear bright clothing to be seen, as well as using stop, look, listen, think saying; when crossing the road.
"The children have been designing their own road safety t-shirts as part of our competition; the winning designs will be made into t-shirts. We are also hoping the local police will visit us at school with their patrol car.”
