A FATHER-OF-FOUR'S car has been targeted twice by thieves in less than a month.
Andrew Bailey, 45, from Middlethorpe Grove, York, woke up yesterday to find the front bumper and grill section of his Vauxhall Astra missing for the second time in recent weeks.
The damage was all the more upsetting because he is now concerned he will be unable to attend the funeral of his 17-year-old nephew, Sean Bailey, on Monday in Hull.
Sean, who attended Derwent Primary School before moving away from York 11 years ago, died on October 28.
His parents found him dead at home on their return from shopping.
His mum Rosie, 38, said she was at a loss to explain what happened.
She said the teenager had been out drinking with friends, adding: "We came back from shopping and thought Sean was a bit late home, so his dad shouted for him twice then went up to his room.
βHe saw him in bed and pinched his face then realised it was cold.β
She told The Press: "He was lovely and always on the go.
"He didn't like sitting down and was always taking things apart and putting things back together.
"I'm going through different emotions. I miss him."
Mr Bailey hopes he will get a courtesy car in time for the funeral, but says he will be selling his car once it is repaired.
He added: "I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I saw it had happened again.
"They haven't touched any other part of the car; they've just taken the front bumper, grill and spotlights.
"It's supposed to be used for a funeral on Monday.
"My insurer should give me a courtesy car but it's a worry we might not make it.
"After the last time I put a note on the windscreen saying CCTV is watching the car and left the front bedroom light on to deter anyone, but they don't care."
Sean Bailey's funeral will take place at Hull Crematorium on Monday from 10.30am. An inquest is expected to take place into his death.
Anyone with information about the thefts should call police on 101.
