THE letter from Sara Robin in support of Dave Merrett (Merrett has done so much for city, November 18) comes over to me as rather selfish in praising him for the things that suit her.
What about the elderly and handicapped people who can no longer access the city centre?
What about the diminished blue badge parking places and the many No Entry signs that prevent them from shopping?
I don’t hear many distressed arthritis sufferers praising Merrett as they jolt over the awful new rubber traffic humps.
Businesses aplenty castigate Cllr Merrett for the lack of business and increased expenses brought about by the Lendal Bridge fiasco and his support for the 20’s Plenty lobby. His support for bikes and buses is the reason for the gridlock in York, not the supposed increase in traffic.
We’ve given him a chance and he failed. Time to go and put plan B into action.
Bob Redwood, Main Street, Askham Bryan, York.
