Councillor Dave Merrett is right (Letters, November 19) to stress the desperate need for housing in York. The lack of social mobility for future generations is truly disturbing.

True, Labour started the mass immigration ball rolling, but there is a famine of homes and it needs addressing urgently. New homes needed. Buy-to-let landlords need not apply.
