A CITY-CENTRE pub is set to be refurbished and re-opened under a new name.
Mitchells & Butlers, the owner of O'Neill's in Low Ousegate, want to turn it into The Merchant Tavern.
They have submitted planning applications to City of York Council. In their applications, they say the building, which is Listed, was originally a pair of houses with shops, built around 1810 to 1820, and say their redevelopment will respect the heritage of the building and the area.
The firm also proposes to display large vinyl artworks from the first floor windows.
The planning applications can be viewed on the City of York Council planning website. The application numbers are 14/02342/FUL, 14/02343/LBC and 14/02344/ADV
