STUDENTS took over the top jobs at the Higher Education Academy in York as part of Children’s Commissioner’s Takeover Day 2014.
Students took on some key roles at the HEA, which is based at York Science Park, including three students from York St John University.
Last Friday, they spent the day shadowing staff members and took part in a strategic meeting to help plan future work and they also shared their thoughts on the impact the organisation has on the student learning experience.
Luke Durham, from York St John University, who took part in the takeover event, and said: “I came to the Higher Education Academy wanting to get a better understanding of the job roles available in the wider world of work. I shadowed various job roles in key departments, and spent time understanding what their business and job roles were about.
“I now have a far greater understanding of what responsibilities and roles each person I met had.”
The Higher Education Academy is the national body for enhancing learning and teaching in higher education, and supports higher education organisations with an emphasis on improving the student experience.
