A CAROL service for bereaved families and friends at York Minster next month will remember the lives of infants who died suddenly and unexpectedly, next month.
Residents of York and the surrounding area are invited to the service on Sunday, December 7.
It is hosted by charity the Lullaby Trust and is a chance for bereaved families to find support at what can be a very difficult time of the year for them.
Jona Ellis’ baby died in 1984 at just 12 weeks and two days old.
Jona said that year was one of hope followed by great sadness, and it took time for her to turn to the support of The Lullaby Trust, which helped her greatly.
She said: “I have been involved in the York Minster Carol Service since 1995 and every one has an impact on me. It’s always very emotional but it makes the beginning of Christmas for me and my family.”
The service starts at 2pm and will feature readings from bereaved family members.
The Rev Taff Morgan will give the address, with music from the East Riding of Yorkshire Band and the choir of St Wilfrid’s RC Primary School.
