AN ENGLISH literature student from York has been elected Intern Of The Year.
Eleanor Bartley, a final year English literature student, is the University of York Student Internship Bureau’s star worker.
Completing an internship at TSYS, a payments processing company in Fulford, Eleanor’s project was to develop and introduce a competitor analysis system. She was in competition with fellow interns Sally Hoolin and Hayley Macdonald.
Sally is a final year history of art student who conducted a marketing and communications intern project with Animalcare, a York-based company who specialise in animal health products. Hayley is a final year politics student who undertook a project to help develop Network Rail’s sustainability plan.
Commenting on the impact of Eleanor’s project, Morgan Beard, director of strategic marketing at TSYS, was full of praise.
He said: “I could get to 80 per cent of this information, but it would take me three weeks, a dozen phone calls and a lot of follow-up. Now, I get a report in three minutes and get 100 percent of the information I need.”
