WOW, what an experience! I HAVE just spent the evening at Joseph Rowntree Theatre immersing myself at one of the best shows I have seen in a long time, the York Scout & Guide Gang Show.
There were upwards of 60 people on stage of all ages providing a variety show of the highest order. It was amazing, well done.
While there has been much in the media recently about Scouting no longer teaching the traditional skills such as knotting and map reading, it is good to see that some Scouting traditions are still alive in York.
The cast clearly demonstrated all the skill and enthusiasm handed down from over 80 years of Gang Shows. The show is a credit to what must be hours of rehearsals and the time and dedication of their leaders.
If you want to see what the youth of York can achieve, I would highly recommend you pay the theatre a visit this week. The show runs until Saturday night.
I will be certainly going back again this week and in future years.
