I RECENTLY finished my annual voluntary work for the Royal British Legion and the 2014 Poppy Appeal, and I would like to thank a few people who supported me.
Firstly, I wish to thank the management, staff and customers at Tesco Clifton Moor, who again allowed me to collect funds for the appeal in-store.
I would also like to say thanks Jo Keogh, who works with the costumes at York Theatre Royal and who again provided me with an authentic uniform to wear while I was collecting.
I had many positive comments from the people in Tesco, which made the effort all the more worthwhile.
Finally, I would also like to thank friends and colleagues at York Minster who supported this year’s appeal.
With all this help, I again managed to raise a substantial amount for the Royal British Legion and our servicemen and women.
At a time when we look back 100 years to the war that was supposed to end all wars, those serving this country can be proud of the wonderful work they all do.
Sean Atkinson, Gillygate, York.
