I WANT to put in writing my experience of services on Saturday, October 18.
I was alone at home when I started coughing constantly. For the first time in my 51 years, I had to dial 999.
The operator asked for a name and address. She kept me on the phone while I gasped replies for the two/three minutes it took to reach the door to unlock. The paramedic was already waiting outside.
Caroline helped me to breathe. Then she called James and Peter for back up. This prompt response and their competence kept me alive. Add to that their kindness in getting me ready for hospital, making my house safe, and thinking to leave a note to explain to my family when they return.
Will they please understand, thank you is no way enough for what they did in those minutes.
I am aware there exists in the background a whole team of professionals following a proven system, using the latest technology. And all for me.
This the NHS.
So today I thank my angels.
Name and address supplied.
