FURTHER to letters from Sara Robin and Paul Hepworth, I would love to know what planet they live on after their support for Cllr Dave Merrett and his policies.

To start with, how can you have someone in charge of transport and strategy dealing with traffic management when you are a cyclist and don’t drive a car?

Cllr Merrett put bike lanes all over the place, even giving them traffic lights, while doing nothing to get a flow through the town centre by tackling the traffic light system.

He also put a bus lane on Fulford Road, which led to weeks of disruption. Then realising it was an accident waiting to happen, it was put back to how it was and not a word was said.

Thousands have been wasted in subsidies to the bus companies to run empty buses. I see them every day and they are expensive to use. He also did nothing to sort out the problem at the Tea Room square at the station and then came the Lendal Bridge fiasco.
