HARROGATE is also paying tribute to lost loved ones. When the clocks go back, the town’s famous Stray turns into a winter wonderland as thousands of fairy lights brighten the dark nights.
Over the last few years this spectacle has become even more spectacular, thanks to Yorkshire Cancer Research.
It’s Symphony Of Lights scheme offered people a long-lasting opportunity to remember their dearly departed by dedicating a single bulb, garland or whole tree to a family member or friend in return for a donation.
The idea was so successful that all the trees allocated to the charity by Harrogate Borough Council have now been taken up.
The council has also promised to keep the trees illuminated each winter for half a century.
What a wonderful way to both pay tributes and banish the winter blues.
