DOZENS of men and women with moustaches - both real and fake - took to the streets of York for a fundraising cycle event.
This was the third annual Movember Bike Ride, which was again organised by Fulford Cycles' online sales and events coordinator Dean Shepperd, who lost his father to cancer.
Dean said that numbers at yesterday's event were slightly lower than previous years, but he was still pleased with the turnout.
He said: "We had probably 60 or 70, but I think that's because it's a week later than last year, a busy shopping weekend and just that much closer to Christmas, but we're still pleased. It was a brilliant atmosphere.
"There were about 22 or 23 going for a 40-mile road ride this morning and they met us at York Minster at midday for the fun ride to Fulford. We had lots of cakes, lots of biscuits, lots of tea and a lot of goodie bags given away."
The group also held an auction, with signed racing jerseys and high-end bike equipment which had been donated by suppliers up for grabs, with all proceeds going straight to Movember charities - which support research into male-specific cancers.
Dean said: "I couldn't say how much we've raised yet, but hopefully a couple of hundred pounds.
"If just one person who's got a pain in his chest or nether-regions thinks he should go see a doctor, then we've done our job, because that's what it's about. Every penny helps, but we're not just concerned about raising a lot of money for Movember, but also raising awareness."
