STAFF and students at York's Fulford School have been given a helping hand from a city supermarket.
The manager of Asda Layerthorpe Store, Adam Penrose and section leader, Elisabeth Skeels donated 140 books to the school's resource centre.
Now popular titles such as the Maze Runner, The World of Norm and Diary of the Wimpy Kid and works by Jacqueline Wilson, James Patterson and Enid Blyton will be added to the shelves and given out as prizes for school competitions.
Rowena White, resource centre manager, said: "We are very grateful for this generous donation and I am delighted that our students will be able to enjoy borrowing and owning these books. We are very pleased that the school has forged such a strong link with our local Asda store."
