A YORK shopping outlet smashed its sales record during a weekend of frantic shopping.
Black Friday saw stores up and down the country slash prices to replicate America’s day of pre-Christmas sales.
But McArthurGlen’s Designer Outlet shopping centre saw record- breaking sales continue over the weekend.
Friday saw a nine per cent increase in footfall and a 37 per cent increase in sales.
Their good fortune continued on Saturday with a six per cent rise in footfall and a 16 per cent rise in sales, while Sunday saw an eight per cent rise in footfall and a 19 per cent rise in sales.
Mike Thomas, centre manager at the Designer Outlet said: “We wanted to offer our customers the best Christmas shopping experience possible, with fantastic promotions throughout the centre.
“Our customers took full advantage of the offers available, resulting in a record-breaking days on both the Saturday and Sunday.”
