STUDENTS from the University of York have bared all for a charity calendar.
More than 80 members of the York Sport Union got together to create the 2015 calendar which they said will not only "promote the diversity of sports" at the university, with sportsmen and women, including footballers, lacrosse players, golfers and cricketers taking part.
Cass Brown, York Sport President, said: "One of the York Sport Committee's goals for this year is raising more money for charity than ever before so we decided to create a naked calendar with our sports clubs in hope that it will raise lots of money.
"We've seen some extremely successful university sports club naked calendars for example, the Warwick Rowers which raised in excess of £300,000 - if we can share just a little bit of the same success, we'll be over the moon."
Sasha Arnett, who organised the calendar, said: "The calendar not only promotes the diversity of sport we have at York, but it also showcases the range of equally strong and beautiful athletic body shapes that come with playing these sports.
"The whole process has been really exciting and I was surprised at how on-board everyone was. I’ve been so lucky to have the help of James Hostford, the wonderful photographer. All the teams involved have been really enthusiastic and there was a wonderful turn out of members."
Other teams involved include women's rugby, mixed martial arts (MMA), swimming and water polo, boating, netball and hockey.
Proceeds raised from the calendar will go to the university's Raising And Giving society, to be distributed amongst local charities and projects.
Sasha said: "It's a perfect Christmas present for family, friends, neighbours, colleagues and fellow students.
"The sports centre will also be selling the calendar, and if it’s a success we hope to be able to start selling it to the general public somehow."
The calendar is available to pre-order at yusu.org/shop and will be sold on campus later this month until mid-January.
