DAFYDD WILLIAMS seems to be trying to put things right.

Perhaps he can rectify the biggest mistake of all – the senseless waste of Huntington Stadium and Waterworld; and the cruel redundancy of loyal staff at Christmas time.

These valuable assets should not be thrown away but nurtured. All that is needed is proper maintenance and better management.

The stadium money from Vanguarde would be better spent upgrading Bootham Crescent and ensuring the future of Yearsley pool. It would cost a lot less than the current grandiose plans and provide far more value for money.

If the new leader has the vision and courage, even at this eleventh hour, to halt decisions taken in secret without proper consultation, he might find he has a chance of avoiding political oblivion at the next election.
