THE STAGE is set at a York primary school as children as young as four prepare to re-tell the Christmas story.
Early Years pupils at Hempland Primary in Heworth have been busy rehearsing for their traditional Nativity which will be performed for their families next week.
Anna Coyle, one of the Early Years teachers, said the 59 four and five-year-olds had settled in well to school life this term, and were now turning into star performers.
"We are really proud of how hard they have worked and what fine voice they have been in during rehearsals. It has made for a very heart-warming, traditional Christmas treat."
Little Donkey and Away in a Manger are among the songs they have been practising.
