WE ARE in and out of town again this week as we look at some super properties to rent in rural and urban locations.
We’ll start with a property which is a bit of both…it’s an extended semi-detached bungalow in Hopgrove Lane North, a little lane off Malton Road, just before the Hopgrove roundabout.
That location gives you the feeling of being in the countryside – with open aspects back and front – while also being just a short skip from Monk’s Cross shopping centres and York city centre (and handy for the A64 east and west).

A fully fitted kitchen with smartly fronted wall and base units and with a good range of appliances completes the ground floor. The first floor has a master bedroom with en-suite and two further bedrooms.

We’re leaving York for our next choice, trotting up the road to Stamford Bridge, a busy bustling spot with lots of local amenities and very much a community in its own right. Here we find a smart, characterful, apartment in the Corn Mill (which, as its name suggests is a conversion of the old mill).
“Viewing highly recommended to appreciate the quality on offer,” say the marketing agents Letters of Distinction. And quite right they are, too – with plenty of charm on offer including original exposed beams and superb views of the surrounding countryside.
Recently redecorated, re-carpeted and bright as a new pin, this penthouse apartment offers an open plan fully-fitted kitchen/dining area with appliances including fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, oven and hob. You can relax in a large sitting room with overhead beams and trusses and admire the views.
There is a large master bedroom with en-suite shower room and a second bedroom which also has an en-suite (there is also a separate WC). The Corn Mill is tucked away behind electronic gates and has private parking and communal garden areas. Letters of Distinction are looking for a rental of £795pcm.
Another property which has been smartly spruced up is a mid-town house in Cherry Paddock, within walking distance of local amenities and handily placed for Clifton Moor and Monks Cross.
The house offers a smart reception room, a fitted kitchen and two bedrooms (one double, one single) and there is a modern house bathroom. Gardens to front and rear and a single garage complete the package for which Letters Ltd are seeking a rental of £675pcm.
And now, we’re off to trendy town…to look at a townhouse in Clementhorpe on the edge of the sought-after Bishopthorpe Road and its range of individual shops, cafés and restaurants. The house offers a smart living room, a kitchen with appliances to included built-in oven and hob, two double bedrooms and a family bathroom to the first floor. There is off-street allocated parking. This property is offered by Ashtons at a rental of £750pcm.
And now, in our last but definitely not least spot, we have a real charmer: an attractive garden flat in a large period property in Heworth village. Highlights here include a lounge with decorative fireplace, a fitted kitchen with appliances including gas hob and electric oven, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and dishwasher.
There are three double bedrooms – two with fitted wardrobes – and a family bathroom. There is a pleasant garden to the rear and on street parking. Letters of Distinction offer this home at a rental of £950pcm.
