TEXAS are to celebrate their 25th anniversary with the February 16 release of Texas 25: The Truth & Soul Sessions.
The album combines new songs Start A Family, Supafly Boy, Say Goodbye and Are You Ready with the Scots' greatest hits, re-recorded and re-worked for 2015 with New York City soul outfit Truth & Soul, who have worked previously with Adele and the late Amy Winehouse.
Recorded in Truth & Soul's studio in Queens and mixed at the Nashville studios of The Black Key's Dan Auerbach, Texas 25 was a chance for Texas leader Sharleen Spiteri and band mate Johnny McElhone to hear Black Eyed Boy, Halo, I Don't Want A Lover, Say What You Want, Summer Son and The Conversation with new ears. "It's almost like we've got who we are, 25 years later," says Sharleen.
In 2015, Texas will present the findings of their 25 years in pop in a new, intimate arrangement, An Evening With Texas, wherein Sharleen will discuss her career and the band will play as a four-piece skiffle ensemble as punctuation points. Among the 14 dates will be Hull City Hall on April 28 with tickets on sale on livenation.co.uk or ticketmaster.co.uk
Texas 25 will be issued in a range of formats, including a 12-track CD, deluxe double CD and on red vinyl. A limited-edition box set will contain the album on double CD and red vinyl, plus photographic prints, a certificate of authenticity signed by Sharleen and an 80-page hardback book compiled by the Glaswegian band.
