BEING temporarily laid up, I watched the full four hours of the Autumn Statement programme, featuring politicians, business folk, financial experts and political commentators.
They all rabbited on about growth forecasts, income tax receipts, deficit reduction, budget balancing and fiscal propriety. Watching grass grow seemed more appealing.
I now know why people with enough money take themselves on a month’s foreign holiday leading up to a general election. Next April is going to be a very long month.
