INVESTORS have been sought in London for a new development in Selby.

Selby District Council and the developers of the Olympia Park site at Barlby attended an event at the House of Lords this week to promote trade, tourism and raise the profile of the Leeds City Region.

Mary Weastell, chief executive of the council, and director of developers Three Swans Property Management, Richard Cooper, were there to promote Olympia Park, which will provide 800 new homes and 270,000 square metres of new business space. Mr Cooper said: “This has been an ideal opportunity to seek to bring in investment to maximise the potential of the Olympia Park site.

“Olympia Park is a key development site to deliver new homes and business space. This will support new investment and jobs in the Selby district with benefits far beyond the immediate area.”

Council leader Mark Crane said the council was working closely with businesses in the area to support new investment, and the event was a showcase of potential opportunities for overseas investors.

He said: “The event in London has been designed to highlight new investment opportunities across all areas of the Leeds City region, targeted specifically at Chinese investors. We think the Selby district has a strong proposition as part of this regional offer.”

Other developments promoted at the event included the Sherburn 2 site which will deliver more than 116,000 square metres of new business space over 85 acres.
