HOW can D Wardell attack incomers to York for many of its problems (Letters, November 27).

He and DM Deamer (Letters, November 22) are wrong on this. Inward investment is good not only for York, but any other town or city as it brings more jobs.

Many of these jobs are recruited locally, as not everyone wishes to relocate. Just imagine if all these companies decided to leave York because of this insular attitude: Mr Wardell would soon have unemployment to moan about.

As for congestion, the main causes of this are a massive population increase nationwide, caused mainly by uncontrolled immigration and the city council by closing off many roads and not improving other roads that displaced traffic has to take.
