THE site for six new council houses in Heworth has been approved by city council bosses.
The land on Pottery Lane will become part of the first phase of new council house buildings in the city, which will see 70 new homes.
Cabinet member for homes Councillor Tracey Simpson-Laing approved the plans for the new site, which lies between Pottery Lane and Heworth gold course, and will include six new two-bedroom houses. The council now has to get planning permission for the scheme.
Cllr Simpson-Laing said: “Maintaining the momentum of our plans to build much-needed council homes is so important for over-crowded tenants and those in desperate need of affordable housing. With the rest of our sites on track, this latest development is very welcome and I look forward to it progressing.”
A public information event on this site is on Thursday, December 11 at St Wulstan’s Church, Fossway, 4-6:30pm for people living nearby.
