A MAN was punched in the face in an unprovoked attack in York.
The man, in his 20s, was walking in St Sampson’s Square at about 3.20am on Friday, when he was hit in the face outside Barratt’s shoe shop.
North Yorkshire Police said there were several people in the area at the time, including a woman who was walking behind the suspect then seen to join up with him further along Parliament Street.
A spokesman said the victim was knocked to the ground during the assault but did not require hospital treatment.
Anyone who witnessed the assault, or has information which could help identify the attacker, should phone North Yorkshire Police on 101.
