COULD the real Dafydd Williams stand up?
Prior to reading the complete news report in The Press (December 1), I sent Dafydd Williams a message congratulating him on his selection by the Labour group to be their new leader, but urging him to reunite the party and more importantly the electorate.
Having read the full press coverage of his election, he states that “time is definitely daunting me... so I will be a part time leader”.
I became confused and to an extent angry. Part-time leadership of the council in today’s modern society is no good at all.
He goes on to state that he is not a career politician, but your history of him shows that he has worked for MPs and ministers in the Labour government and has previously stood as a Parliamentary candidate in Bournemouth in 2005 and for the European Parliament in 2009.
He did at one time, obviously have visions of becoming an MP or an MEP but now he states that he is not a career politician.Sorry Dafydd, but York and its citizens needs a full-time council leader, not a part-time player.
