SPEED bumps are a ubiquitous nuisance in York, and many road users have to travel over them multiple times in a day (The Press, December 4).

Therefore the damage to health is significant, not to mention the damage to your wallet come MOT time.

They also cause pollution through the constant braking/acceleration pattern adopted by drivers.

Time for a major rethink. I am not against speed restrictions but these anachronistic humps are too crude. They are not just a pain in the rectum; they cause pain all over the body.
