The skilled craftsmen and women who make ecclesiastical vestments for York's cathedral clergy passed on some of their secrets so families could have extra special Christmas decorations.
The York Minster Broderers held a special Christmas Embroidery Workshop for expert and non-expert sewers alike.
They showed how to combine colour and technique in fabric items for the festive season.
Everyone at the workshop had the chance to make their own Christmas item using techniques, some of which have been used for centuries.
The workshop in the Chapter House was one of two organised by the Minster for Christmas. Next Saturday, the Minster Flower Arrangers will pass on their skills in a wreath-making workshop.
The York Minster Broderers are volunteers who design and make vestments worn by the Dean and other Minster clergy during Minster services.
