A 90-YEAR-OLD man from North Yorkshire has been named as the motorist who was killed in a crash which led to the closure of the M1 for eight hours.
Francis Appleby, of Hampsthwaite, near Harrogate, suffered fatal injuries when his blue Citroen collided with a black Audi A4, between junctions 20 and 21 of the motorway in Leicestershire, on Thursday (December 4).
The collision, in the northbound carriageway, happened at 6.25pm.
The occupants of the Audi were not injured.
