A WOMAN was left shaken following a robbery in York.
The 60-year-old woman was walking along Heslington Road towards the Barbican between 2pm and 3pm on Monday near The Retreat, when she was pushed from behind and her bag was snatched from her arm.
The woman suffered a minor leg injury and was left shaken by the attack, and the suspect ran off towards the Barbican.
North Yorkshire Police said the stolen handbag was black with red and multi-coloured butterflies on it, has two umbrella pockets at each end and a shoulder strap, and contained a black purse, a mobile phone and cash.
The suspect was described as wearing jeans and dark shoes, and police have appealed to anyone who saw the incident, saw a man running near the scene, or who has found a discarded handbag to contact them.
Anyone with information should phone North Yorkshire Police on 101, email yorkCID@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk or phone Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
