BUDDING bakers have designed a new bread for their community.
Pupils at Headlands School visited the Haxby Bakehouse to make their own buns, baguettes and baps with a range of flavoured ingredients for the people of Haxby and Wigginton.
The day out for the children in Year 5 and Year 6 involved using beetroot, chilli, cheese, herbs and seeds to bring their loaf to life after they winning a school competition to bake their creation.
Head teacher, Sarah Wright, said: "It was a fantastic visit which was part of a Design and Technology, and Science project.
"The children had to think of a bread design, give their bread a name and include any unique features.
"They then prepared an advertising campaign by completing a poster, a radio advert or a TV advert.
"We then choose the winning bread design from each class."
