IN 2010 we were promised a bonfire of the quangos. There doesn’t appear to be sight or smell of any smoke.
The quangos are predominantly bodies for failed or retired politicians and civil servants, they interfere in public life where they aren’t wanted, and waste billions of taxpayers’ money with nothing to show for it. Perhaps the current politicians don’t really want to scrap them because they see them as a nice little earner for themselves to supplement their bloated public sector pensions.
This is another gravy train that needs derailing.
