MAY I second every sentiment so well put by David H Meek (Soap Box, December 6) about the thought of the lovely old buildings of Poor Clare’s Convent made into yet more student accommodation.
It would seem that the only people being housed in York are the students.
Just think: if had the university had not come to York, houses would be affordable and on the market for the city’s hard-working families.
I know people will say the university has brought jobs to York, but I still think we have lost more than we have gained.
