FUNDRAISERS will be able to light a lantern to celebrate the lives of loved ones in York next week. Yorkshire Cancer Research’s Lantern Of Life event will be held at Monks Cross Shopping Centre on Thursday, December 18, between 6.15pm and 7.30pm.
The event is free but donations of £10 allow visitors to light a lantern in memory of a loved one, which can then be taken home.
Andy Pierce, events manager at Yorkshire Cancer Research, said: “Our first Lantern of Life concert, held in Harrogate last year, was an amazing and very moving experience.
“The lighting of the lanterns, along with the beautiful voices of our guest choirs, created a unique atmosphere that really captured the spirit of the festive season. We’re looking forward to marking Christmas in York this year and warmly invite everyone to join us in celebrating and remembering their loved ones.”
